Ocular infections: Corynebacterium macginleyi has been reported as a cause of eye infections, including conjunctivitis (pink eye) and keratitis (inflammation of the cornea). These infections can occur in individuals wearing contact lenses or those with compromised immune systems.
Skin and soft tissue infections: Corynebacterium macginleyi has been implicated in skin and soft tissue infections, such as cellulitis (inflammation of the skin and underlying tissues) and wound infections. These infections can occur in individuals with compromised skin integrity or in healthcare settings.
Catheter-related infections: Corynebacterium macginleyi has been associated with catheter-related bloodstream infections, particularly in patients with indwelling central venous catheters or other medical devices. In these cases, the bacteria can colonize the surface of the catheter and enter the bloodstream, leading to systemic infections.
Respiratory infections: Corynebacterium macginleyi has been isolated from respiratory specimens, although its role in respiratory infections is not well-defined. It may occasionally cause respiratory tract infections, particularly in immunocompromised individuals or those with underlying lung diseases.
Different labs use different software to read the sample. See this post for more details.
One lab may say you have none, another may say you have a lot! - This may be solely due to the software they are using to estimate.
We deem lab specific values using values from the KM method for each specific lab to be the most reliable.
Desired Levels Suggestions for Corynebacterium macginleyi
Frequency - how often do samples show this bacteria
UD - An alternative statistical algorithm (which factors in the frequency)
Kaltoft-Moldrup Heuristic Using uploaded data
Lab Low and High are calculated using the formula that most labs use: Mean - 2 Standard Deviation to Mean + 2 Standard Deviation
These are values that are computed from lab specific samples (Patent Pending)
